EarthBound: The Cult Classic
As I sit here, pondering how so few people I know at school have played EarthBound, I can't help but compare it to a certain film company's movies: Troma. Troma has made some of the best movies out there, like The Toxic Avenger and Surf Nazis Must Die, well, maybe not the latter, but nevertheless, they both appeal to a small audience, and that small audience is as fiercely dedicated, if not more, than your average Star Wars fan or.. Trekkie.
The reason for this? We've found a game that is incredibly fun, cherished it, beaten it multiple times over, and made a shrine to the Player's Guide... maybe that last one is just me. At any rate, we love this game so because it is shunned by our peers who are close-minded and haven't experienced EarthBound, and instead of forcing it on them, we can only smile and laugh, for they will never know the greatness that is EarthBound.
So... what is he talking about, you say? To tell you the truth, I'm not sure myself, but I am sure that there should be a cult section of video games at the rental store, and EarthBound should be there in a big display. We all love our EarthBound like Happy Happyists love Carpainter, and we're helpless to resist.
Blue, blue.
