Transdimensional Sibling Rivalry
After much pondering as to how and why Giygas controlled Pokey, animals, and numerous other bad guys (and after the recent buzz of theorizing at EB.Net), I hit upon a solution that seems to fit fairly well, and explain a lot of mysteries of the EB universe.
1. I'll believe that Ness is a descendant of Giygas--or at least someone like him. But what about the possibility of another semi-omniscient alien like him? A brother, perhaps? Maybe Maria fell in love with this alien; thus explaining Ness's PSI as well as the Ness's-dad-is-an-alien theory and his gifts of money, now helping to defeat his evil brother.
2. These two aliens exist in a slightly different dimension, interacting with earth through possession or some form of astral projection.
3. Zexonyte is the catalyst for these projections, as it allowed the heroes to warp through time and space. The Onett meteorite allowed Giygas to take hold of Pokey's mind, and his brother to renew Ness's PSI powers, which he had forgotten.
4. Buzz Buzz is a projection of the good alien, not a messenger from the future. He has foreseen Giygas's victory and appeared to Ness to give him the sound stone. Starman Jr. is, of course, Giygas's failed attempt to stop this.
5. The Mani Mani statue contains Zexonyte, allowing Giygas to influence those who possessed it.
6. Apple Kid and Orange Kid are manifestations of the aliens. This is why Orange Kid attempts to slow your process, and why he knows so much about your quest, as does Apple Kid. How do you think Dr. Andonuts learned of Zexonyte? Apple Kid was there. I think the mice are in on it somehow.
